Revealed by Daniel Craig at announcement to launch new Bond film Spectre, the Aston Martin DB10 is 007 heaven

James Bond has a new mission and a new ride the Aston Martin DB10. The mission will hit cinema screens next year under the title Spectre. Director Sam Mendes officially launched the film’s name, unveiled its cast including Christopher Waltz, Monica Bellucci and Andrew Scott and pulled the wrapping off a brand new Aston Martin at Pinewood Studios this morning.

Uniquely in the 24-movie history of the franchise, the car has been specially designed for the job. You won’t be able to buy a DB10, it’s strictly a concept car, albeit one that will be built in a short run – 10 cars – especially for Eon productions. It is not based on the new architecture or built around the new Mercedes-AMG engines that future Aston Martins will feature, but instead around the existing V8 Vantage package. So ignore the DB10 name – this is not the car to follow the V12-engined, two plus two DB9. There’s only space for Daniel Craig and one passenger in the DB10.

The Bond car does however showcase what car designers call "a design language" that will find its way onto the successors to both the current V8 Vantage and V12 DB9. And as befits the most radical development at Aston Martin since the DB9 launched what the company calls the "V/H" architecture, the new car has a radical new look. It’s the work of Aston’s design hyper-active director Marek Reichman who has, since taking over from Ian Callum (now at Jaguar) kept his team busy with concept cars, Lagondas real and imagined and the One-77 super GT.

First impressions? It’s bold, modish but lacks the cool elegance and classicism of Callum’s cars (the Vantage and the DB9) which have served the company so long. It’s testament to Callum’s restraint that the DB9 still turns heads, 11 years after its launch. The DB10 of course won’t have to do that; it’s moment will be over by the time Spectre reaches DVD.

Aston Martin says the 10 cars won’t find their way into private hands and that it fully expects them all to be destroyed by the Bond stunt-driving team which has in the past included Ben Collins, aka the former "Stig" on the hit BBC show Top Gear.

However Aston knows better than most never to say never. Its centennial concept car the CC100 was meant purely for show but then one and then a second customer made the company offers it could not refuse. And in the past it has pre-sold its racing cars to collectors only too aware of the value of rare Aston Martins. The DB10 will be among the rarest. I expect Aston Martin’s and Eon’s phones are already ringing.

New Delhi, 4th November 2014: “Khamosh! Adalat Jaari Hai” is a Vijay Tendulkar classic social satire which portrays the hypocritical face of the Indian society. The story revolves around a theatre group and its members (symbolizing different facets of the social order) who get locked in the theatre before their show and decide to pass the time by playing a game of a false court room drama. The patriarchal society targets the free spirited Leela Benare, who is chosen as the culprit. Benare gets entangled in a web of lies and mockery which slowly uncover the masks of frustration, hypocrisy and orthodoxy from the face of the real society.

The use of chlorine valves requires, among other conditions, a corrosion free environment. The aim is to contain gaseous, liquid and dry forms of chlorine which can be achieved following the guidelines provided by regulators of the industry. Some of the properties to consider include a leak tight seat with a reliable mechanism to relief pressure from the body cavity. The steam seals are also adjustable to make them more functional.

The guidelines given by regulating institutions to guarantee high quality include the provision of a relief hole. It is aimed at facilitating spontaneous relief of in the body cavity towards the direction where the pressure is high. It also ensures that pressure is not too much around the ball to avoid damage or affecting its functionality. This will keep your valve functional under all pressure conditions.

External adjustment of steam seals is also provided. This is done for monitoring purposes and to facilitate intervention when the need arises. This mechanism works for all forms of chlorine and will minimize leakage which can be disastrous in production environments. The system gives a warning at a certain point to allow intervention of supervisors. Automated control is possible in some environments depending on construction.

The presence of a bottom-entry stem helps to prevent accidental removal during operations. This is provided for most of the series available in the market. Others have internal stem retention properties to make them easier to control. The position of the valve will be visually indicated for external monitoring. This allows supervisors and other workers to take appropriate action from time to time.

The material used on all parts is high quality and does not react with any form of chlorine, under any temperature or pressure. This applies to all materials used in manufacture of the ball, stem and the body. They are highly researched to ensure that they can withstand varying pressure and temperature in different work environments. Change in pressure or temperature will not affect the smooth running of your system.

The gadgets are extensively tested during the process of production to ensure that they meet necessary regulatory standards. Such standards stipulate the level of tightness required and the potential to withstand pressure and temperature. Such details are specific to industrial environments. Each piece is cleaned and ready to be fitted into the system. You also are provided with a user manual with specifications on size, maximum temperature and pressure.

The relief options for downstream or upstream movement depend on whether the pressure can be tolerated on either side. The options for valves include flanged and three piece, each of which has its unique application areas. They come in different sizes to fit the machines or parts of a plant where they are going to be used.

Maintenance instructions are given during packaging with specific details regarding the materials used. The gadgets can be used indoor or outdoor without suffering under the weather. Manufacturers continue to offer new models in an effort to improve on effectiveness. They are durable and reliable for different areas where directional control is required.
The six-day festival will present plays written by or for the two great writers whose centenary year is being celebrated across the country

The festival opened with ‘Khayalat ka Saudagar- Abbas’, a play based on the life of K A Abbas who wrote memorable films like Awaara, Shri 420, and Mera Naam Joker, among others

New Delhi, Oct 13, 2014: Artistic geniuses and legends in their own right, both Khwaja Ahmed Abbas and Begum Qudsia Zaidi were born in the year 1914 in a pre-independence India. While the former went on to become a leading journalist and an eminent script writer in the Bollywood of Nehruvian years, the latter is renowned for her pioneering role in establishing the Hindustani Theatre in Delhi.

As India celebrates the centenary year of the two writers, Delhi Government’s Department of Art, Culture & Languages in association with the Urdu Academy is presenting a six day festival dedicated to the two literary greats.

The 26th Urdu Drama Festival was inaugurated this evening by Shri S S Yadav, Secretary, Art, Culture & Languages, Government of Delhi at the Sri Ram Centre Auditorium.
The festival began with the staging of ‘Khayalat Ka Saudagar- Abbas’, a play based on the life of Khwaja Ahmed Abbas, written and directed by Ms Zakia Zaheer and presented by the Khwaja Ahmed Abbas Memorial Trust Theatre Group.
The first three days of the festival will be dedicated to the plays of or on Abbas while the last three days will see the staging of plays scripted by Zaidi.
“A writer, a journalist, a film maker, Khwaja Ahmed Abbas was a towering figure in India’s literary circuit and in some ways he lead the avant garde cinema in Bollywood during the 1970s when he penned films like Neecha Nagar, Jagte Raho and Saat Hindustani. His writings symbolized the spirit of Nehruvian socialism and gave a voice to a young India’s quest for social justice and equality. During the same years, Qudsia Zaidi led a very different movement by laying the roots of Indian theatre. It is a matter of pride for us that we are paying tribute to these two legends through this festival,” says Anis Azmi, Secretary, Urdu Academy.
The second day of the festival, October 14, will see the staging of the play Angrezi Ki Galtiyion Se Bhara Ek Khat’, written by Khwaja Ahmed Abbas, directed by M Sayeed Alam, and performed by Pierrot’s Troupe Drama Group. ‘Abbas Ke Do Rang’, directed by Amitabh Srivastava and performed by the Three Arts Club will be staged on Wednesday (October 15).

On the fourth day of the festival (Thursday), ‘Jaan Har’, a play written by Begum Qudsia Zaidi and directed by Sheikh Khairuddin will be performed by the Living Theatre Group, while the fifth day (Friday) will see the staging of Qudsia’s ‘Khalid ki Khala’, directed by Chander Shekhar Sharma and performed by Mask Players Art Group.

The festival will end on Saturday with Qudsia’s play ‘Dhoban ko Kapre Diye’, directed by Danish Iqbal and presented by the Social Pride Welfare Society.

Being a financial advisor can be very rewarding job—and not just financially. You’ll have the opportunity to helppeople achieve their financial goals, such as buy a house, send their children to school, or simply to be financially stable for the rest of their lives. If this is a career path that you want to pursue, the following are the requirements for someone to become a professional financial advisor:

Education

If you know early on that financial planning is your calling, you might want to pursue a degree in related fields. It helps if you have a background in accounting, finance, business, economics, mathematics, or law.

Knowledge in the said fields is not strictly essential, though; any four-year degree is acceptable. A 2009 survey by the Financial Planning Association reported that 88% of financial advisors started out with a different job. In exceptional cases, a degree is not even needed, but do take note that the operative word here is exceptional.

There are many other benefits to completing a Bachelor’s Degree. It gives you credibility, and shows that you’re willing to adhere to schedules and submit requirements to achieve an end goal. A four-year degree is also necessary in case you want to get professional certification.

Other, broader subjects might also serve you well, like economy in general. No matter where you work as a financial advisor, it helps to see how the bigger picture affects personal finance and vice-versa. For example, you can see how developing countries emerge and how this affects certain stocks your client might want to buy.

Experience

Just as important as getting an education is accumulating experience. Some large firms offer comprehensive training programs to give you experience and prepare you for licensing exams. These are typically hard to get into, but worth it.

You may also want to start with a smaller company. The training won’t be as structured, but you’ll be forced to learn to do more things because you’ll be called on to perform a wide variety of tasks for different clients. You’ll have to be able to hit the ground running, learn things on the fly, and be able to quickly adjust to different situations.

Remember, though, that you might have to accept unpaid internships and start at entry-level jobs. This might be especially difficult if you’re a career-changer and already have several years of experience under your belt. The experience will be invaluable, though.

Certifications

There are several certifications you can earn to boost your credibility, but getting a Certificate in Financial Planning (CFP) is the most significant. This requires three years of experience with a financial planning business, coursework, and a two-day exam. You will also be required to commit to continuing education on finance and ethics in order to maintain your certification.

Larger firms like Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management and Wells Fargo Advisors don’t require CFP designations from their financial advisors. It’s helpful in building your client base, though, because clients will usually be looking for it. Although in no way does it guarantee it, a CFP designation will signal sound financial advice to prospective clients.

Personal Skills

Finance is a very personal matter to anyone: hopes, dreams, egos, and your clients’ futures are tied to it. Financial attitudes are also very personal.

Richard Salmen, Financial Planning Association chair, said it best: being a financial advisor is as much counseling as it is advising. There are more dysfunctions associated with money than with any other issue. Expect to advise on everything from the stock market to how to best handle credits cards.

Personal skills are also important, in that you are essentially in a sales position. You’ll be convincing people to use their money to invest in things, and that’s hard without some soft skills.

Fees Vs. Commissions

Decide how you want to earn in this business, because it also affects how your clients perceive you. If you choose to charge the standard 1% flat rate for all the assets you manage, clients might be wary of you not wanting to drop some stocks because it could lower your rate.

If you go for commission, on the other hand, the danger is that your client might be cautious against you advising in favor of or against certain stocks.

Whatever and whenever you decide to become a financial advisor, remember that besides skill, it takes a lot of commitment, long hours, and the prospect of starting from the ground up. You’ll basically be acting on your own, and carrying in your hands the huge responsibility of your clients’ financial future.

Indo-Americans are upset over stereotyping their community in upcoming Jason Bateman comedy “Bad Words”.

Referring to Red Band trailer of the movie, distinguished Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that addressing an Indo-American kid as “Hey Slumdog” and using the words “curry hole” for him smelled of xenophobia and racism.

Zed, who is Chairperson of Indo-American Leadership Confederation, stressed that Indo-Americans were for free speech as much anybody else if not more. But unnecessarily belittling a community with stereotyped remarks, even in a comedy, hurt the community. Filmmakers should be more responsible while handling race and faith related subjects, as cinema was a very powerful medium.

Moreover, talking to a young child that way was really inappropriate and disappointing, Rajan Zed argued.

Zed has urged the filmmaker to remove the words derogatory to Indo-American community in the movie and trailer and offer a formal apology.

Directed and starred by Golden Globe winner Jason Bateman (Arrested Development)  and rated R (Restricted), “Bad Words” is scheduled for release in USA in March next.

Urban Outfitters, a publicly traded American retail company which offers a variety of lifestyle merchandise, has apologized to Hindus upset over socks carrying image of Lord Ganesh and offered to remove it from stores and website immediately.

In an email to distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, who spearheaded the protest, Crystal Carroll, Public Relations Manager of Urban Outfitters, wrote:  “We sincerely apologize if we offended the Hindu community and our customers. We appreciate Rajan Zed and the Universal Society of Hinduism for bringing this matter to our attention and for helping us understand the cultural and religious sensitivities this product carries. We will remove the Ganesh Socks immediately from our website and stores.”

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, thanked Urban Outfitters for understanding the concerns of Hindu community, which thought Lord Ganesh’s image on socks was highly inappropriate.

Rajan Zed suggested corporations to send their senior executives for training in religious and cultural sensitivity so that they had an understanding of the feelings of customers and communities when creating new products or launching advertising campaigns.

Zed has earlier said that Lord Ganesh was highly revered in Hinduism and was meant to be worshipped in temples or home shrines and not to be wrapped around one’s foot. Inappropriate usage of Hindu deities or concepts for commercial or other agenda was not okay as it hurt the devotees.

Hinduism was the oldest and third largest religion of the world with about one billion adherents and a rich philosophical thought and it should not be taken lightly. Symbols of any faith, larger or smaller, should not be mishandled, Rajan Zed had argued.

Zed had also pointed out that such trivialization of Lord Ganesh was disturbing to the Hindus world over. Hindus were for free artistic expression and speech as much as anybody else if not more. But faith was something sacred and attempts at trivializing it hurt the followers, Zed added.

Sock which Hindu devotees were finding objectionable was a crew-length cotton sock topped with a Lord Ganesh graphic at the trim, which sold at $8 on website. Urban Outfitters website described it as “Awesome” and “UO Exclusive”.

Philadelphia (USA) headquartered firm Urban Outfitters, Inc. offers Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, Terrain and BHLDN brands through stores in USA, Canada, and Europe; besides garden center, catalogs, websites and wholesale. It boasts of its “established ability to understand our customers and connect with them on an emotional level” and calls its brands “both compelling and distinct”. Richard A. Hayne and Tedford Marlow are President of Urban Outfitters, Inc., and Chief Executive Officer of Urban Outfitters Group respectively.

In Hinduism, Lord Ganesh is worshipped as god of wisdom and remover of obstacles and is invoked before the beginning of any major undertaking.

Home Affairs Committee press release

The House of Commons Home Affairs Committee today calls on the Home Secretary to abandon plans to control khat under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. The Committee recommends instead the introduction of a licensing scheme for importers of the plant.

The Committee concluded that - The Government’s decision to control khat was not based on evidence of medical or social harm. The Committee has subsequently not received any convincing evidence that the consumption of khat is linked to any medical or social harm, and to control it as a Class C drug would be disproportionate.

There has been no consultation with members of the Somali, Yemeni and Kenyan communities who use Khat in the UK, and also those who produce Khat abroad. The Committee concludes that the potential negative effects, both on the diaspora communities who consume khat in the UK, and on the growers who cultivate it in Africa, outweigh any possible benefits of the ban.

The ban on Khat has the potential to specifically damage UK-Kenya relations. The Committee is concerned that an important relationship in the combatting of terrorism could be significantly and detrimentally affected.

The Government has postponed a Commons debate on the legislation to give effect to the ban, pending the Committee’s findings. If the Committee’s recommendations are accepted then there will be no need to go ahead with the current legislative proposals, though alternative measures for import licences may be required.

Rt. Hon Keith Vaz MP, Chairman of the Committee said:

"It is extremely worrying that such an important decision has not been taken on the basis of evidence or consultation. The expert Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs conducted a thorough review of the evidence and concluded that no social or medical harm resulted from the use of Khat. We support the Advisory Council’s findings. The UK should not become a hub for the distribution of illegal khat.

It is wrong to place legal importers in the impossible position of choosing between a life of potential hardship or one of crime. The best solution is the introduction of a licensing system for importers as a middle way between unregulated trade and an outright ban.

"It is baffling that potential friction, between already disadvantaged communities and the police, has not been fully considered. We cannot afford for those who are already marginalised to be pushed towards criminality or extremism. It is vital that prohibition in the UK does not result in an increase in recruitment of Al-Shabab abroad."
