Pune, 12 June 2015 – Noted journalist Shekhar Gupta on Thursday said that Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were among the most interesting persons interviewed in his TV talk show ‘Walk the Talk’. However Gupta also regretted the silence maintained by former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh during his tenure as PM.
Speaking at a special program organized by the Pune chapter of FICCI Flo, Gupta bared open his love for the cricket, food and shared his extensive experience in covering various events as reporter. Varsha Talera, chairperson of FICCI Flo Pune, Sabina Sanghavi, senior vice chairperson and Varsha Chordia, vice chairperson were present on the occasion.
When asked about the most interesting and memorable persons who he interviewed during his 13-year old program, Gupta said that it was Sonia Gandhi and Narendra Modi. “Sonia Gandhi because she never gave open interview anywhere else before or after that interview. I found her very engaging and I was surprised to see her passion for India. I realized that she was in politics not for the power but because she loved Rajiv Gandhi deeply.”
About Modi, Gupta said that it was unfair to portray him in black and white. “He is a very quick learner and hard worker man. He always learns a new thing which is why Modi is a new person every three months. Many global leaders are fascinated by him. When I interviewed him, he came as close as possible to say sorry for the Gujarat riots which was also a unique thing to my show,” he said.
However, Gupta also pointed out the things which he did not like about these personalities. He said, “Sonia Gandhi and her son (Rahul) got their economics from Indira Gandhi which was a bad thing. They relied on doling out money to the poor to appease them but this will no longer do. The PM is hyper communication and he should bring down the chest beating.”

Gupta also rued the sorry state of TV news today saying that prime time news on TV has become theater and they have lost all the seriousness. “In the beginning, people liked this but now the audience is getting bored. Journalism has changed. The technology has lowered the entry barriers.” On the same note, he said that he was trying to build a new institution which will deliver opinionated news in new way.
Varsha Talera outlined the Agenda for the year for Pune FLO. She elaborated on projects that FLO plans to do - to Empower women at senior, middle and junior level women in various fields. It was well attended by women from all walks of society.

Rajan Zed further said that Canada, instead of vague promises, should show strong political will and do something concrete to end the chaos and poverty in aboriginal communities today; and provide improved health care on reserves, close the education attainment gap between aboriginals and other Canadians, improve their social and economic well-being, impart them skills, invest in child welfare, preserve their various languages, end systematic discrimination and include in the curriculum of all K-12 grades of Canada the contributions of aboriginal people and injustices of residential schools. Moreover, Canada should wholeheartedly adopt United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Zed added.

We apologize for any unintentional harm this product had caused to anyone, Ellsaesser added.

Gurgaon, Oct 15, 2014: It was yet another battle of the corporates, albeit with a difference! The game of one-upmanship, this time, was held at a cricket field as employees of Sun Life Asia Service Centre India played their heart out against their counterparts at Google.
In a friendly corporate tie played at the St. Stephen’s Ground, New Delhi, the two teams played a 20 over match, with ASCI emerging victorious in the battle. However, it was the spirit of friendship that won the day.

In a friendly corporate tie played at the St. Stephen’s Ground, New Delhi, the two teams played a 20 over match, with ASCI emerging victorious in the battle. However, it was the spirit of friendship that won the day.
Google won the toss and chose to bat on the bright sunny Saturday, and got off to a good start. The batting, however, slowed down after the team lost its swash buckling opener. Scoring steadily at 5 runs an over, the Google India team clogged on 106 runs in 20 overs, setting the field for ASCI’s run chase.
SunLife ASCI’s run chase started on a negative note, with the team losing its first wicket early on in the innings. The top and middle order of the team struggled a bit, but steadied the innings effectively, laying ground for an easy chase.
Varun Mittal (50 not out) was the top scorer of the match, while Kishore Singh (37), gave him good support at the crease. In the end, the Asia Service Centre India team won the match easily in just 13 overs, with 4 wickets still in hand.

Queens Museum in New York is displaying various Hindu deities in its “Sacred Waters” exhibition, which is open till November two.
It includes a collection of Hindu offerings from Jamaica Bay, with plaques informing the significance of the each deity.
Museum is also celebrating Diwali, Hindu festival of lights, on October 18, which includes lighting of 3000 candles, mehndi, art exhibition, diya painting and cultural program.

The play, penned by renowned playwright Begum Zaidi, was extracted from her famous Chacha Chakkan series. The play centers around Chacha Chakkan, a 45 year old gentleman and his family and his quirky misadventures due to his penchant for interfering in house-hold affairs, much to the consternation of his wife.
The play captures the little details of quotidian life of an ordinary family and depicts the socio-cultural milieu of our country in 1950s in a light, humorous way.

In view of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s governing Fidesz party winning control of all county assemblies and all but one of the largest cities, Hindus have urged him to make efforts in integrating Roma population.

Upset Hindus have urged world's largest online retailer Amazon.com headquartered in Seattle (USA) for the immediate withdrawal of women’s leggings carrying images of various Hindu gods and goddesses and sold on its website, calling it inappropriate.

This tenth century lost-wax bronze from Tamil Nadu (India) of Chola period, 86 centimeters high, has been in the collection of National Gallery of Australia in Canberra till 2009. A video posted on the LAD website explains the meaning behind various parts of the statue.

Twelve schools of Houston Independent School District (HISD), largest school district in Texas, have reportedly introduced yoga.

Juliet Stipeche and Rhonda Skillern-Jones are the President and First Vice President respectively of its Board of Education, while Dr. Terry B. Grier is Superintendent of Schools.
It will cover over 6,500 students at Crockett, Elmore, Hilliard, McNamara, Oak Forest, Oates, Stevens, Shadydale, Thurgood Marshall, and Whittier elementary schools, as well as Forest Brook Middle and North Forest High schools this year, reports suggest.
Calling it a “step in the right direction”, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, suggested all school districts of Texas to incorporate yoga in the lives of the students. Yoga, referred as “a living fossil”, was a mental and physical discipline, for everybody to share and benefit from, whose traces went back to around 2,000 BCE to Indus Valley civilization, Zed pointed out.
Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that yoga, although introduced and nourished by Hinduism, was a world heritage and liberation powerhouse to be utilized by all. According to Patanjali who codified it in Yoga Sutra, yoga was a methodical effort to attain perfection, through the control of the different elements of human nature, physical and psychical.
According to National Institutes of Health, yoga may help one to feel more relaxed, be more flexible, improve posture, breathe deeply, and get rid of stress. According to an estimate, about 21 million Americans, including many celebrities, now practice yoga. Yoga was the repository of something basic in the human soul and psyche, Rajan Zed added.
About 100 languages are spoken in HISD, seventh-largest school district in USA, which has about 213,000 students in 283 schools. Hindus have welcomed teaching of World Religions in Modesto City Schools (MCS) in California and reportedly being the only one in the nation to make it a graduation requirement.
Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, said that teaching of semester-long religion to ninth grade students in MCS was a “step in the right direction”. Other school districts in the country should follow it.
Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, argued that opening-up the Modesto pupils to major world religions would make them well-nurtured, well-balanced, and enlightened citizens of tomorrow. It also made a good business sense to know the beliefs of “others” in a global community. Moreover, students should have knowledge of the entire society to become full participants in the society.
Rajan Zed pointed out that religion was a complex and powerful component of human life, so we must take religion seriously. Moreover, existence of varying faiths was a positive sign of God’s generosity.
Currently, MCS World Religions curriculum examines Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Judaism. Zed suggested that it should also include Baha’ism, Daoism, Confucianism (although it shows a Confucius video), Shinto, Jainism, Zoroastrianism, Native American spirituality and non-believers’ viewpoint; and organize field trips to various religious venues in the area.
Its Hinduism curriculum talks about Vedas, reincarnation, Divali, Brahman, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, karma, dharma, mandir, yoga, samsara, moksha, atman, Om, etc., and shows a video on Gandhi.
MCS began teaching World Religions in 2000. According to reports, in the September 29 meeting of its Board of Education, California State Assembly representatives presented MCS with a framed copy of Assembly Concurrent Resolution 154, which celebrated its World Religions course and recommended its state-wide adoption.
MCS, whose history goes back to 1871 and whose tagline is "Communicate, Collaborate, Celebrate", has about 30,000 students in its 34 institutions. It emphasizes a District-wide Character Education program which highlights nine character traits. Cindy Marks, Amy Elliott Neumann and Pam Able are its Board President, Board Vice President and Superintendent respectively.

In the upcoming episode of Sony TV’s Bharat Ka Veer Putra Maharana Pratap, courageous Pratap will be seen facing his biggest enemy Akbar in a deadly fight. While shooting for this particular sequence, Pratap aka Faisal Khan and Akbar aka Vishal Jethwa had to prepare themselves by undergoing rigorous training sessions. Renowned fight master Deepak Das was seen giving them extensive training for performing the stunts in the show.
Talking about it Pratap aka Faisal says, “ I was really looking forward for this fight sequence as it involved many challenging stunts which amazes me a lot. Years of dance practice has given me an added bonus to perform these stunts better. Our stunt master helped us to understand the right technics required to perform this stunt. I hope I have done justice to the sequence and wish audiences like it too”.Commenting about his experience Akbar aka Vishal says, “I was really excited to shoot for this sequence as it was my very first time. Our trainer showed us the right technics which made it look so real. A special thanks to my co-star Faisal who assisted me to craft the performance and making it easier for me”.
